On October 30, 2020 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Association (VECEA) held theworkshop "Model of energy management for energy users in industrial sector".
Attending the workshop were Mr. Do Huu Hao - Chairman of VECEA, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hiep - Vice President and General Secretary of VECEA, together with energy experts from various enterprises, professional centers and universities in Hanoi.
Mr. Nguyen DinhHiep - Vice President, Secretary General of VECEA presented at the workshop
The workshopwas a forum for experts, entrepreneurs, engineers and energy managers to share successful and creative models in implementation as well as to access new energy management systemsin the future. At the workshop, energy saving application models and the current situation of energy management in manufacturing businesses of some industries such as fiber, beer, ceramics ... were raised for discussion.
At the workshop, Mr. Nguyen DinhHiep - Vice President and General Secretary of VECEA presented in detail the current situation, development trend and energy efficiency potential of Vietnam.
According to Mr. Hiep, Vietnam currently is the economy with the highest specific energy consumption in the region. Several studies in industry and construction have shown the financial viability of reducing energy intensity through improvingtechnology and adopting more efficient resource management. The studieshave also shown that the investment for energy saving solutionsis lower than the total savings. Energy efficiency options and fuel replacement can therefore provide economic benefits, while reducing carbon emissions and improving energy supplies.
A survey in industrial sector also shows that the level of energy wastage in the manufacturing industries in Vietnam is quite large, i.e.the energy saving potential in industry is estimated at 20-30%. The Law on economical and efficient use of energy (in effect since 2011) has encouraged energy users in the industrial sector in Vietnam to raise their sense of responsibility to implement local management regulations and invest in many measurements to improve the energy usage such as installing high-capacity motorswith inverters, improving ventilation, lighting and cooling systems, etc.
Given the current situation of energy use and management among energy users, the orientation to amend and supplement legal documents related to the field of energy management ingeneral and management of energy usersin particularisabsolutely necessary to curb weaknesses arising in energy management activities at enterprises and create a legal corridor for effective implementation of VNEEP3 and energy efficient activities in localities.
Energy management in energy users is a regular and long-term task, contributing to the establishment of a responsible society in economical and efficient use of energy. The adjustment and supplementation of appropriate legal regulations will create favorable conditions for energy users to well implement management and technology measures on economical and efficient use of energy to ensure successful implementation of VNEEP3.
